Big Changes, Small Town
Titusville is set to become a quickly growing town. Situated across from NASA’s Vehicle Assembly Building the town proffers the best possible views of the launches soon to come. Space-X the newest facilitator of space launches is poised to bring a new wave of tourism to the Space Coast. This means quite a lot for the sleep town of Titusville and I plan on being here as it happens. In recent years (2011-2014) the city has been increasing its cultural offerings. Downtown Titusville has played host to food truck wars, art festivals and old car shows. The theater downtown has been offering more variety in its showings. What used to be a run down mall and hold over from the 60’s, Miracle City Mall, is soon going to get a make over. Thanks to the Greater Titusville Renaissance the city has never been more alive! Personally I think we have the new upcoming space program to thank for that.
The Greater Titusville Renaissance is taking a lead charge in changing the town. The group consists of several committees who are ready to help beautify and change Titusville forever. I will be chronicling the changes and maybe one day I will be posting on the success of the greater changes the town will receive. Our culture here has changed as well. The past year Titusville hosted the first Art & Algorithms a Digital Arts festival and it was a success. The center piece of this great show featured a projection on to a building wall. This outstanding festival had many displays from interactive art, lenticular displays and short movies. Titusville is slowly becoming the place to go for the arts and entertainment!
While Titusville is changing some things remain the same. Our town still, and hopefully always will, have that small town feeling. Our local parks are beautiful and we are only a stone’s throw away from the gorgeous and gigantic Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. This affords those who prefer the Florida lifestyle over the hustle and bustle of the artsy life. Space View park (Veteran’s Memorial Park) is the best place to view launches and to see the beauty of A. Max Brewer Bridge at night. The small Rotary Riverfront Park gives quick access to the Indian River and a little place to unwind. The dock here is a great walk and provides some wonderful sunrise scenes. There are more parks like this that dot the Indian River in Titusville.
So whether you are wanting to relax the day away, view some wonderful art or check out local dining there is always something to do in Titusville. As the town grows so will the opportunities and my love of the area. If you find yourself heading to Titusville some time please feel free to e-mail me or message me here and I will be happy to help find some entertainment or maybe even give you a tour! Looking forward to 2014 and beyond where everything is better: In Florida!
